Houston County Schools is excited to offer new vision plan options with MetLife for 2026. MetLife vision insurance helps cover the cost of eye exams, eyewear, and contacts. The vision plans allow you to visit any licensed eye care professional, but staying in-network offers the best cost savings and maximizes your plan benefits.
Two MetLife vision plan options are available:
The vision insurance option you elect during your initial new hire eligibility period or during Open Enrollment is effective for the entire plan year unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event. You are unable to change your Superior Vision or VSP Choice election during the year unless you have a qualifying status change.
With the MetLife Vision Plan, you may visit any vision provider you want. However, in order to maximize your MetLife vision benefit, we encourage you to visit an in-network provider within the network you choose during enrollment (Superior Vision or VSP Choice).

Although the plan includes a minimal reimbursement for out-of-network services, we highly encourage you to visit in-network providers from the network you selected during enrollment (Superior Vision or VSP Choice) for your vision care.
To locate in-network providers, access www.metlife.com/vision and select “Find a Vision Provider”. Then, select the network you enrolled in, “Superior Vision” or “VSP Choice,” and follow the search instructions.
Please confirm the network status of your provider before your appointment, as network participation is subject to change at any time. Network participation may vary based on the individual location, so be sure to call ahead to ensure the location you visit is in-network.
In-Network Services: Benefits are provided at the time of purchase. All MetLife vision plan members will receive a vision plan ID Card. However, the ID Card is not required at the time of service to receive your benefit from in-network providers.
Out-of-Network Services: Member is required to pay in full at the time of service and file a claim with MetLife for reimbursement.
The vision plans include additional discounts and value-added benefits for participating providers including but not limited to the below. Check with MetLife or your provider for details.
